Comment Policy

NIAID Funding Blog enables public discussion on funding, policy, and other topics for NIAID’s extramural research community. It is part of the federal government’s commitment to ensuring that a broad range of Americans are active and informed participants in discussions about issues relevant to NIAID’s extramural research. We encourage you to share your comments, ideas, and concerns.

This is a moderated blog – we will review all comments before posting them.

  • We expect that participants will treat each other with respect.
  • We will not post comments that contain vulgar language, personal attacks, or offensive terms that target any people or groups.
  • We will not post comments that are clearly off-topic, promote services or products, or make unsupported claims.
  • We will post comments only from people who use a plausible name (not an alias or nickname). If we get a comment that uses an alias, we will change it to “anonymous.”
  • We will not post links or references to other private sites or blogs.

We ask that reporters send questions to the NIAID Media Office through their normal channels and refrain from submitting questions here as comments. We will not post questions from reporters.

Because the Web is a 24/7 medium, your comments are welcome at any time. Given that we must manage federal resources effectively, we will review comments and post them during business hours, Eastern time, Monday through Friday. We will read and post comments submitted at other times as early as possible the next business day.

To protect your own privacy and the privacy of others, please do not include phone numbers or email addresses in the body of your comment.

Thank you for taking the time to read this comment policy. We plan new blog posts regularly between issues of the NIAID Funding Newsletter. We encourage your participation and look forward to an active exchange of ideas.
