January in the books

January 2012 is now in the books. For the most part, January continues the dry pattern we saw last fall. There was one major storm system that brought much needed moisture to the basin in the middle part of the month. Since then, the storm track has established itself mostly north of our basin with the Wind River Mountains in the northern part of the basin benefiting from some snowfall. Otherwise, the rest of the basin marked January with mostly below average snow accumulations. With the current weather forecast looking mostly dry for the next couple weeks, confidence is fairly high for a below average year. In many cases, we could very well see conditions well below average.
