I use the site to obtain information for my personal and professional use. So far I have had no problems navigating the pages.
As a Army Veteran with a service connected disability I found USA.gov’s web site. Since that time I have been informed and updated to changes in the goverment and how they effect the daily lives of the people.
I would have to say that they are trying their best to keep the Country from failing even if we don’t see it.
I have found that the information is at the goverment sites, and with a little work and a lot of diligence you should be able help yourself as well as others by sharing what you might find.
God Bless, Ken
Jobs, jobs, jobs. Need i say more?
I access a lot of consumer and job information. I also use census data and HUD subsidized apartment listings.
Mostly I find the site easy to navigate.

I have never been to America, even if I had heard the Obama’s speech in Fudan University in Shanghai. So I can not be able to give any comments.

Speaking on behalf of a lot of people that don’t know what agency performs which services, I usually start with a search. But USA.gov has competition in this field from Google (google.com/unclesam), which I’ve used several times.
I think it’s important to use multiple search engines when looking for information, but you guys might want to take a broader look at what USA.gov needs to be–as content provider or simply a search portal–in order to best serve citizens. Having competition from Google should really enter into the deliberations, though…

You want to know if the bail out worked or if the economy is turning around???? Let me tell you it’s not. We are an apartment developer based in North Carolina. We currently have 6 projects totaling close to 1,000 units, each project with over 90% occupancy and all stabilized in the long term market. For the last year we have been trying to put 2 new projects on the ground and either getting loan terms that are so unreasonable that you can’t do the deal or no loan terms at all. Keep in mind that we maintain substantial deposits in numerous institutions. We are not spec builders. We don’t diversify outside of what we do well. We don’t spread ourselves thin with multiple projects at once such that we can’t effectively monitor performance. We also build very conservatively monitoring occupancies as we go.
Additionally, the real tragedy is this. Along with ourselves we probably employ 200+ people when it is all said and done per project, all of which are paid fairly and have been able to make a living just with us alone for the last 8 years or so. Not only that, we obviously make a substantial contribution to each local tax base where we build. Lastly, we produce a quality living environment for people to live. We don’t build high end expensive apartments that only a small portion of the population can afford, nor do we build something that would represent the other extreme.
I know a lot of people are complaining about the bail out money with little or no direct interaction with the banks. We are honest business people who have tried to continue doing what we do well with a track record to back it up. We have little or no recourse debt liability so as to warrant skepticism for lending. So much emphasis has been placed on single family homes when the reality is that not everybody is ready to be a homeowner and incur all the responsibilities that go with that. We provide 24 hour maintenance along amenities including a fitness center and pool that many people may not otherwise ever be able to enjoy.
You have a responsibility to bring these types of stories to light. There is so much propaganda out there highlighting a brighter horizon for the economy when it is simply not true. We are in danger of going out of business, at least on the construction side, when there is absolutely no reason for it and, as a result, will put numerous people out of work.

I find the government agencies index to be really useful–and I like the fact that it gives you the choice of looking up agencies alphabetically in case you aren’t sure which branch an agency belongs to.
